Standard Equipment

Sure, the journey may begin for some under the hood, where a powerful 285-horsepower, 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine surely comes standard, prepared to deliver up to 260 pound-feet of torque. It makes 2019 Wrangler both a deft accelerator and a workhorse when it comes to turning and pulling power. However, just like all new Jeep SUVs, it's built tough, too -- and that's an understatement.

It's got hard-wearing skid plates, a third-generation Dana solid front axle, and, in base models, the legendary Command-Trac part-time 4x4 system, not to mention a towering 10.8 inches of ground clearance. It can even tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped -- enough capacity for a dirt bike, ATV, or small boat -- and tow hooks, one in the rear and two up front, simplify pulling toys out of mud, sand, and water hazards. But, most importantly, Wrangler is Trail Rated, demonstrating not only exceptional traction control and ground clearance but also maneuvering, articulation, and water fording abilities you won't find from other SUV manufacturers.

Of course, it's no land-yacht on that basis. The powertrain incorporates, for instance, a six-speed manual transmission, offering an engagingly hands-on handling experience. Wrangler is even an efficient ride to boot. By EPA estimates, it can achieve up to 23 mpg in cities like Vineland and up to 25 mpg down the highway to hotspots like Bridgeton, NJ and Cape May.

Step into the driver's seat, and under the open-air freedom made possible by collapsing the standard black Sunrider soft top, an up-to-103.7-cubic-foot cabin sprawls. It's home to comforts like cloth seating, with the driver's side height-adjustable for just the right vantage point for the trip. You'll find ample accommodations for cargo, too. It makes more than 72 cubic feet of space available for everything from luggage to camping gear and outboard equipment with rear seating collapsed. You can even expand your potential quarry: there's a removable floor in the hold with hidden storage available, not to mention a center console and a glove compartment that lock, an available Trail Rail System, and a Utility Grid option. The SUV's even easy to clean when the excursion's over: just wash the interior by spraying it down after taking out its carpeting -- the new floor valve system and its one-way drain take care of the rest.

Finally, tech-wise, Wrangler is expertly equipped. In base trims, your command center's piece de resistance is a 5-inch Uconnect 3 infotainment system. It features voice control for ease of use, Bluetooth tech for wireless audio streaming and hands-free calling, and an eight-speaker sound system to transform your road mix into a travel anthem.
